Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you want to know about booking a Chinese-speaking ski instructor in Japan

What is TeachMeSki?

TeachMeSki is a platform that matches Mandarin-speaking travelers with experienced Chinese-speaking ski instructors at Japan's top resorts. Post a free lesson request and let instructors reach out to you directly. Coverage includes Hokkaido, Hakuba Valley (Nagano), Yuzawa (Niigata), Iwate, and Zao (Yamagata).

How much does a Chinese-speaking ski instructor in Japan cost?

Pricing is set by each instructor individually, typically as half day or full day rates (each instructor decides the exact lesson length — commonly around 3–4 hours for half day and ~6 hours for full day). Exact prices are shown on every instructor's profile. Posting a lesson request on TeachMeSki is free — you only commit once a booking is confirmed.

Do all instructors speak Chinese?

Yes. Every instructor on TeachMeSki teaches primarily in Mandarin Chinese; many also speak English and/or Japanese. Each profile lists the languages the instructor offers lessons in.

Can complete beginners book a lesson?

Absolutely. Instructors list the levels they teach, from first-timers to advanced off-piste. Indicate your level when posting a request and instructors will tailor the lesson accordingly.

Can I book a snowboard instructor, not just skiing?

Yes. Both alpine ski and snowboard instructors are available. Use the discipline filter on the instructors page or specify it when posting a request.

Which Japanese ski resorts are supported?

Main coverage: Hokkaido (Niseko, Rusutsu, Furano, TOMAMU, Kiroro); Nagano Hakuba Valley (Happo-One, Goryu, 47, Tsugaike, Cortina); Niigata Yuzawa (Naeba, GALA Yuzawa, Kagura, Ishiuchi Maruyama); Iwate (Appi Kogen); Yamagata (Zao Onsen). See the instructor directory for the full resort filter.

How do I book an instructor? Do I need an account?

Sign up for free, post a lesson request, and instructors will reach out to you. You'll discuss details and confirm the booking inside TeachMeSki's in-platform messaging — the whole flow is handled securely on the platform.

Where does the certification info on each profile come from?

All certifications (CSIA, CASI, NZSIA, PSIA, SIA Japan) and credential photos displayed on instructor profiles are self-reported and uploaded by the instructors themselves. TeachMeSki does not independently verify these credentials with the issuing bodies. We recommend confirming qualifications directly with the instructor before booking. The "Identity verified" badge, however, does indicate the instructor has bound their LINE account for identity verification with us.
